About Me

I founded MollyBird Studio as a collective for all of my creative ideas. I illustrate quirky children’s picture books and art prints, but this wasn’t always the case.

For several years now, I have known that I wanted to be an artist and share something special with the world, I just didn’t know exactly what, how, or why. Coming from a corporate graphic design background, I really struggled with my “why”. What am I spending all of my working hours on? Is it making a difference? Does it light me up? The answer was no. I started to make changes.

I cycled through many mediums and many ideas for my art (founding MollyBird Studio in the process), but none of them stuck. I quit my corporate job and started freelancing, but still doing the same type of graphic design work. It was taking all of my creative juices from me and I felt stagnant on my dreams of ever becoming a self-sustaining artist.

It wasn’t until I became a mother and had the privilege of developing the relationship I share with my now 2-year-old son. Our love of reading picture books together and getting lost in the worlds of illustrations is how I discovered my “why” of wanting to be an artist: I create picture books and paintings to celebrate imperfections, connect us to loved ones through shared moments of reading and art, and to inspire us to be our best selves.

I create from the comfort of my home office, surrounded by the art that I love, my son and my husband, a barking dog, and maybe a sleeping cat or two.
